Speaking on the news that their group would be one of those receiving funding, Rory Field, CEO of Metro Blind Sport, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to receive support from the Share The Joy fund.

“This funding will enable us to offer blind and partially sighted people a safe, supported introduction to tandem cycling—an opportunity that is rarely accessible to them. With this grant, we can provide specialist equipment, experienced cycling partners, and an inclusive environment where participants can build confidence, feel connected, and enjoy the freedom of cycling.

“Thanks to this support, more people who are often isolated will have the chance to take part in an active, social experience that opens the door to long-term participation in the sport.”

Bo and Zoe from Frames of Mind, another group receiving funding, commented: “We’re delighted to have been awarded Share The Joy funding to deliver our project ‘Full Cyclists’.

“This grant will allow us to develop extended cycle-safe routes for our Full Cycle Heritage QR bike trail, and train new ride leaders and marshals to support more community led rides, build confidence and incentivise cycling in Forest Gate. We can’t wait!”

Tom Fyans, CEO of LCC, said of this latest round of Share the Joy funding: “LCC is hugely proud to be part of the Share The Joy fund, helping reach 19 new grassroots organisations in this round of funding alone, as cycling continues to grow in numbers and diversity across London, and increasingly becomes a leisure activity, sport and humble mode of transport that everyone can access.”
