Volunteer with LCC

We're looking for volunteers to help with three exciting projects.

The London Cycling Campaign is looking for volunteers to work along our staff team with three crucial projects to make London better for cycling! There are also lots of opportunities to volunteer with our local groups all over London.

Local Elections Campaign Volunteer

Next May London will be holding local elections in all 32 boroughs. This is a pivotal moment that will set the agenda on cycling across London for the next 4 years. Our local groups will be engaging with candidates to get them to commit to building a safe cycling network in their borough. We’re looking for a volunteer to work with our Senior Campaigns Officer, Clare Hinchliffe, and help with research leading up to the campaign and monitoring during it.

Location: Remote or at the LCC office in Farringdon
Timing: Start of March to mid-May
Time commitment: Approx. 0.5 to 1 day per week, which can be spread across more than one day

Healthy Streets Scorecard Mapping Volunteer

The London Cycling Campaign is part of the Healthy Streets Scorecard, and part of this work we map and keep track of all protected cycle tracks in London. We’re looking for a volunteer to check the current mapping and refine it to include more detail. We’re looking for a volunteer to work with our Senior Campaigns Officer, Jakub Mamczak, to update the mapping for the 2026 Scorecard launch.

Location: Remote
Timing: December or January start until end of March
Time commitment: 3-5 hours a week

Cycle Buddies Volunteer

Cycle Buddies is our online platform to pair up experienced cyclists with those just starting to cycle in London or coming back after a break. This highly effective programme helps people to build confidence while cycling in London. We’re looking for a volunteer to work with Community Cycling Officer, Mike McSherry, to help support Cycle Buddies users and occasionally attend events promoting Cycle Buddies.

Location: LCC office in Farringdon
Timing: December or January start, ideally for 6 months with option of extension
Time commitment: 3-5 hours a week

How to apply

Volunteer with your local LCC group

There are London Cycling Campaign groups in almost every London borough. With 95% of roads controlled by boroughs (rather than TfL) most of the change to get more people cycling in London happens at the local level.

Our local group volunteers engage with councils to get them more supportive of cycling and directly help people to cycle more. We often need help with writing newsletters, feeding back on cycle infrastructure, organising events, marshalling cycle rides, protests, flyering, social media, photography… and much more.

If you’re interested in volunteering with your local groups, fill out this interest form.

Join the movement

We are highly effective at winning change for London because our campaigning is supported by more than 12,000 members. If you cycle in London please consider joining today. You'll be helping win change for London and get a huge range of benefits.
