Imagine a city where it’s enjoyable and safe to walk and cycle for all your local trips, there are relaxing places outside where you can watch the world go by, chat with your neighbours, and children can safely roam and walk or cycle to school. For the local council elections in 2018 we are teaming up with Living Streets to deliver a campaign to encourage every London borough to submit a high-quality Liveable Neighbourhood bid and make sure the next council leaders embrace walking and cycling.
We want to transform the run of roads that link Old Street to New Oxford Street into a tree-lined ‘Healthy Street’, where people stroll, linger and cycle with wider pavements, safe cycle tracks and calmer, safer junctions.
Run by LCC with by sponsorship from Dennis Eagle, the Lorry Safety Project provides advice and support to lorry operators on reducing risks to people walking and cycling as well as advising people how to stay safe when cycling near lorries.
The Mayor of London promised to build Cycle Superhighways to continental standards. How's he doing?
