Cycle To Work for the first time with LCC London BikeTubes – 14 September 2016

Do you know someone who wants to cycle to work but needs encouragement? Commuting by bike for the first time can be intimidating, which is why we’re teaming up with Cycle to Work Day on Wednesday, 14 September. We know that the more people who are cycling in London, the safer and more enjoyable it can be. We want to get more people trying it out and finding their cycling feet, so we can see a happier, healthier and less polluted city for everyone.

Twelve guided rides will set off from different corners of London and deliver people to central points in the city. Each ride will be coordinated by experienced ride leaders and supported by volunteer marshals to help build the confidence of first time cycle commuters. You can join the ride nearest to home and jump off at the point nearest your workplace.

Please sign up to a route below to make sure you have a place and get a free BikeTubes pack.

Meeting time for bike safety checks is at 7.30AM.   Rides will start between 7.45AM and 8.00AM and should be finished by 9.00AM in time for you to get to work.

Important information & Data Protection Statement

To take part in a BikeTube you should have experience of cycling on roads and be at Bikeablity level 2 or 3. Most of the routes will be through parks, back streets or on Cycle Superhighways but some busy roads may be unavoidable.

If you have not cycled for a few years or are new to cycling we strongly recommend that you take up cycle training before the event – this is available free from your local London borough.

You must also bring your own bike and make sure it is roadworthy and has lights. We will check bikes at the start of the ride and if the ride leader decides your bike is unsafe you will not be able to join the ride. Make sure you pump up your tyres, oil your chain and check your brakes and gears work.

If it’s wet make please make sure you pack waterproofs or have a change of clothes in your bag for when you get to work.

LCC will use registration data to keep riders up to date with details about their BikeTube including information about meeting points on the day. LCC would also like to keep in touch to let you know about our latest news and campaigns, including special offers for London cyclists.
