London Cycling Campaign announces winners of their 2013 awards

London Cycling Campaign has launched this new series of awards to recognise achievements in cycling in the capital. There are ten awards divided into two categories: the public vote awards, which will be distinguishing the best of brands, products and retailers, whilst the panel votes will continue LCC's tradition of giving recognition to grass-roots projects that directly promote cycling within the community.


BEST BIKE BRAND - The cycling brand that has done the most to popularise cycling in London.
Rapha - Quality clothing with a retro feel, now providing kit to highly competitive Team Sky pros.
Runners up
Vulpine: New clothing brand whose classy gear and cycling events have captured the imagination.
Specialized: Fabulous bikes and equipment suitable for the smallest and the deepest pockets.

BEST CYCLING CHAMPION -The award to an individual or organisation for outstanding efforts to champion cycling.
Bradley Wiggins - Sporting hero to millions for winning Tour de France yellow and Olympic gold.
Runners up
Andrew Gilligan: The new Cycling Commissioner, helping ensure the Mayor's future plans Go Dutch.
Jenni Gwiazdowski: Runs the fabulous London Bike Kitchen, empowering people to fix their own kit.

BEST CYCLING COMMUNICATION - The best publication, campaign, article, graphic or online tool that helped promote cycling in London.
Winner In-depth and up-to-date online coverage of cycling campaigns, news, people and products.
Runners up
Cycling Weekly: Britain's only cycling weekly, which is renowned for sports coverage and campaigns.
The Guardian Bike Blog: Quality articles on cycling issues, edited by respected broadsheet journos.

BEST PRODUCT- The best quality or most innovative cycling product, clothing or accessory. Award logo and sponsor logo.
Brompton folding bicycle: One of the best compact folders in the world, and still built in London.Runners up
Knog Blinder lights: Cool designs, highly visible, easy to use, and great value for money.

BEST RETAILER - The independent, chain or online retailer offering the best shopping experience either through service, atmosphere, location, value, or range of products.
Cycle Surgery: London wide chain that somehow manages to feel like your local bike shop.

Brixton Cycles: A workers co-op that's an integral part of the London cycling landscape.
Velorution: Has a loyal following with two stores selling high-end products at great prices.
