We're calling on Barking & Dagenham Council to implement a 20mph limit and controlled parking zones borough-wide to increase safety of non-drivers.
Write to your next council leader today - demand rapid and bold changes for people and planet.
2022’s council elections are a vital point in London’s zero-carbon journey. Motor vehicles are the largest and most stubborn source of London’s emissions, and borough councils control 95% of the city’s roads. We need all our councils to act in the next four years and be bold – or it’ll be too late to get to zero carbon roads by 2030. That’s what’s needed for London and Barking & Dagenham to do their bit. That’s why we’re calling on the council’s next leader to commit to cutting road transport emissions fast and enabling lots more walking, cycling and wheeling.
Our Climate Safe Streets Champions are campaigning to make a real difference in their boroughs on action on cycling and climate. They're taking the lead on this campaign to engage with candidates and the public to ensure climate is at the top of the agenda for this election.
Who's on board?
Every borough in London must take action now, to decarbonise London's roads by 2030. Tell your next council leader to commit to the necessary bold action in the next four years. Because if they're not acting now, by 2026 it'll be too late to catch up on the climate crisis!
