2022-2026 is a vital stage in London’s zero-carbon journey. Motor vehicles are the largest and most stubborn source of London’s emissions, and borough councils control 95% of the city’s roads. We need all our councils to act in the next four years and be bold – or it’ll be too late to get to zero carbon roads by 2030. That’s what’s needed for London and Kingston to do their bit.
That’s why we developed five asks for each London borough council in the 2022 council elections to cut road transport emissions fast and enable lots more walking, cycling and wheeling.

ASK 1. Protected Cycle Routes
We're calling Kingston Council to deliver ‘Go Cycle’ routes to provide safe, protected cycling space on key direct routes across the borough, linking residents with schools, hospitals, and local everyday amenities.
ASK 2. Safe Cycle Network
We're calling for Kingston Council to support a 5 to 10 year programme to deliver a complete cycle network, providing new facilities, updating older facilities and introducing Low Traffic Neighbourhoods to improve local conditions for walking, cycling and access to public transport.
ASK 3. Cycle Lane Maintenance
We're calling on Kingston to commit to an excellent degree of maintenance of cycle lanes - regular cleaning and active management of issues of illegal parking, flooding, broken glass, vegetation, so that existing and new routes are fully usable by all cycle users 24/7, 4 seasons of the year.
ASK 4. Cycle Hub
We're calling on Kingston to make the Kingston cycle hub beside Kingston station secure and useful for people cycling to Kingston.
