Wanstead Park to Richmond and back

A gentle ride to challenge those who think 50 miles is beyond their capability. We will ride from Wanstead Park Tea Hut across central London using cycle routes, parks and minor roads, wherever possible. We will of course encounter traffic in places, but marshals will help ensure we keep together and can enjoy the day. Everyone is  welcome provided you are up for the challenge and have a bike with good tyres and brakes. The route is suitable for all styles of bikes and  most levels of ability. Be prepared to be in the saddle for over 6 hours during the day. We welcome those who have never ridden this far before. Surprise yourself with what is possible. No-one will get left behind. There are escape routes if you find it too challenging with  options to cut the 50 miles to 25 by taking the overground back to Stratford.  District Line stations are also available at various places along the route. Our destination will be the ‘Tide Tables’ cafe on the riverside under Richmond Bridge. You are welcome to bring your own snacks if you prefer. Please carry sufficient water with you. It may be quite warm and we need to be careful not to dehydrate. Our rides are sociable and friendly. Given that this ride goes right through central London we do have to restrict numbers to 12 riders. If you find the ride is fully booked please email redbridge@lcc.org.uk to go onto a waiting list. If you book a place and then find you are unable to attend, please notify redbridge@lcc.org.uk so that the vacancy can be filled from the waiting list.
