MERTON CC JOIN KINGSTON CC FEEDER RIDE TO THE LCC WOMENS RIDE
Merton CC will not be marshalling a feeder ride to the Women’s Freedom Ride this year. Kingston CC is heading there through the centre of Merton, so there’s an opportunity to join with them for a fully marshalled ride to Lincoln’s Inn Fields for the start at 12.30. The route back will be via Putney Bridge/Richmond Park, so you’ll need to break away from the group on the way back and make your own way home. Lincolns Inn Fields (where the Women’s Freedom Ride starts and finishes) is about 10 miles from Garfield Recreation Ground (meeting point), so in total, you’ll be taking on about 24 miles over the course of the day.
Meet in Garfield Recreation Ground, just before the Wandle crossing at 1030, expecting the main group around 1045. They won’t be able to wait, so please be on time. - Marshalled throughout, this ride is suitable for all ages and abilities. We will use cycle routes and quiet roads to guide you into Central London and back again to ensure we join the main women’s ride, which starts from Lincoln’s Inn Fields at 12.30pm. Join hundreds of other women cyclists and their allies in support of safer cycling for women across London. Hesitating? Don’t! Get that bike out of storage, pump up the tyres, give it a bit of TLC and oil – we will look after you and no-one will be left behind.
- You can choose to return with us or, if you prefer, make your own way back or use public transport. This will be a great day out, an important protest ride, and we would love to see you with your family and friends. Please encourage others, neighbours, family and friends.
- Our feeder ride is approx 17 miles to the main event and 16 miles on the return to Kingston, with a possible afternoon tea stop, making the total ride – including women’s freedom ride – around 38 miles.
